Want to letter in band?
Don’t forget you need volunteer hours!
Some students are required to complete 2 hours of volunteering to earn a varsity letter or chevron in Band.
Volunteer activities that would qualify:
Writing additional letters to middle school or grade school students to encourage band participation. 2 letters count as 1 hour of volunteer credit.
Writing spotlight content for the website (See Mr. Donnelly, Band Council or Booster President for more details)
Organizing music in the music library (See Mr. Donnelly)
Helping with wreath organization or distribution
Cleaning and maintenance of jackets, ties, and sashes
If you have any questions or have helpful suggestions for other volunteer activities that may represent the band well in our larger community, please discuss them with a member of the Band Council or Mr. Donnelly.
Here is the full list of requirements to earn a letter or chevron:
Have a 90 percent or above (average) in band
Pass off all required material
Be in band for one year; the letter will be received at the end of freshman year
Attend all performances unless extenuating circumstances prevail
Have no major disciplinary actions taken against them
Have no outstanding financial obligations
Complete two hours of volunteer work in the band room or two hours of extra middle/grade school help
March in the parade at the end of the year
Attend all pep band performances unless extenuating circumstances prevail
